Accurate mileage registration and increased customer service

Lease car fleet owners have to deal with a tough crowd: employees of their customers. These independent users do not always adhere to the required registration of their mileage accurately or on-time. By connecting the Smart-Link field module to the Engine Control Unit, typically via the CAN-Bus a wealth of information can be made available to the fleet owner and potentially the individual driver.

Based on the accurate and frequent mileage registration a far better insight in the actual usage patterns of the cars can be obtained and completely new business models can be realized, like completely automated pay-for-use per mile based payment schemes that is flexible towards the driver. Also a �need servicing� reminder service can easily be created, when the appropriate driver information is available. As the current field module has no interface to a GPS unit, a proper road-pricing solution is out of scope, but not impossible.
